Re: AH 81 as a Kart Engine
Hi, Bob. Yep, best to stick with the Big Macs and the Benders! There's a guy about 60 miles from here in a tiny New Mexico town who owns a hardware store. He has a collection of saws sitting on a high shelf that runs the length of the store. There's a Mono with an AH-81 there that looks almost like ...

Re: AH 81 as a Kart Engine
Good morning, McBob! That conclusion may be right as far as the saw is concerned, but there are a few guys out there that would like to have it on a kart! The saw might sell well on eBay. G'day! TJ

Re: AH 81 as a Kart Engine
Hey to the land down under! The AH-81 was somewhat fragile, especially in the lower cylinder casting. It suffered from poor breathing, mostly due to the transfer ports being charged thru (2) 15/16" holes in the piston skirt. The reed area is very limited, though manifolds have beeh made using dual H...

Hi, Rob. If you try to fix it with silicone, you'll probably wind up insulating it from ground. Throw it away. I can't remember ever breaking one. Of course, most of us Florida rednecks used the big Mallory brass case condensers back then. TJ

Takes a lotta heat to turn that tough old mac paint orange! Of course, our engines didn't have much yellow left on them. Pop's carburetor cleaner bucket saw to that! TJ

Rick, we also used model airplane fuel to add to alky, just for a little while. Fox fuels, including Missle Mist were nothing more than alky with a percentage of nitro along with blenders and lube. Even back then it wasn't an economical way to go! We owned a hobby shop, and that helped with the cost...

Re: 91 Seal Replacement
Google on seal protectors. I've used the ones dad gave me 40+ years ago. Here's one possibility, though I don't know if they have the right sizes.

Re: Cad Kart
Our local kart shop, Wyatt Enterprises in Cocoa, FL, carried Cad-Cart for a while. I only ever saw one at the track. It had a somewhat high CG due to the suspended seat, and the driver seemed to feel insecure. It sure was nicely finished, though! Of course after Bug began building the "new" Cad, the...
