Re: 450 mac saw

mc450 makes a nice mc49 look a like. considered a cheater motor as it has a 1.5 stroke not the 1.375 stroke found in mc49's. so most venues would have you run with the mc49's but in a different class for results. most like a mc6 in specs. can't recall but i'm pretty sure you have 6 intake ports and ...

Re: Bug sprint

robert, ask what you want for a price it's a free country. BUT at $6500 you're gonna be waiting a while for a buyer. At one of the big car auctions a extremely rare and desirable margay dual kart was put up. it had the rare dual gearbox , the margay snail pipes and two us820's or mc101's (i don't re...

Re: Bendix brake linning

i went to mccmastercarr online catalog and looked up brake and clutch material. picked out lining that was fairly hard rated and could be bought in 2" by what ever length. stuff i got was woven green colored material alot like the oldest brake linings. anyway it's flexable so i cut it to fit with a ...

Re: Simplex Challenger?

glad to hear you might keep it. any vintage two stroke only. the weren't 4 stroke kart as far as i know. west bend 580 mcculloch mc5 or mc6 power product motors all would be a good fit. they aren't exactly FAST but they are a blast to drive. what i prefer with a kart like that is to tear it down car...

Re: need help with my west bend i just got

the covers do have directional diverters cast in. am thinking if i can't find the "fast" piston i may just razor edge a new stock set of rings. i heard about a mcculloch flywheel conversion kit. that might be a neat thing to find and install too. seems i was not serious when i said i was just gonna ...

Re: Simplex Challenger?

that is in extremely nice original condition. the tank with sticker is there which is a plus. no gold mine but easily worth a few bucks. the simplex karts are usually very heavy and slow but there are guys that love then anyway. i've bought a few in rough shape between $50.00-$175.00 if the rims are...

Re: need help with my west bend i just got

Some general questions about motor, first is there a thin ring version of the piston ? if so where are they found ? if not who sells rings?? second the exhaust ports are supposed to be round right? mine were squared up a bit look to be done nicely. are gaskets/ seals available and if so where? what ...

Re: need help with my west bend i just got

opps forgot the tag. says 58008 so i assume it's a 580. carb is a tilly hl88a. everything on this motor screams early vintage so i'm just gonna wash it good and reseal everything i guess. the compression seems light so it may need rings. Steve miller west bend owner extrodinare says it's a right han...

need help with my west bend i just got

hi guys, heres my new west bend. i need a refresher on this engine. it seems ready to run but i know nothing about this model. it'll be going on a historic looking just a little cleaning needed. the funny looking box on the exhaust is a sort of manifold and i suppose it had two mufflers at some poin...
