Re: Mcculloch engine on ebay
I hate to destroy an old saw, but I think I can justify it by building a nice replica of an MC-5. I may use one of the early MC-6 blocks that have the MC5/MC6 stamping on them to make it as original as possible. That wont be very original. The blocks double stamped were left over Mc 5's with Mc 6 p...

Options for seals on Power Products
AH-58/61 just uses a wiper seal. Nothing even close available that I can find. At one time Sears still has NOS parts in limited supply. 30+ year old rubber parts dont really appeal to me. Dimensions of stock all rubber wiper seal to fit .875" bore and .669" shaft. The pto seal is not a problem. Ther...

Re: Margay & Dart Wheels
No they are not the same bolt pattern. Dart turbines use a steel outer thas chrome plated. Margay is spun aluminum and polished. Different size bolts too. But.....you can slightly alter the turbine inners to accept Margay aluminum halves. You can also pick up industrial steel cadium plated halves li...

Re: Mcculloch engine on ebay
Since you are destroying a perfectly good saw to make just a kart motor, I may be interested in the complete gearbox assembly, bar, chain and gas cap. Well unless that saw has 404 chain instead of 1/2" like most gear reduction models. That can work too. At least 404 chain is still available new. I h...

Re: Mcculloch enigine on ebay
Not so grasshopper... That is a D30 saw motor that had the center pull starter. The same parts were also used on the 1-40 and early 1-50 saws. Someone has chopped the shroud and sidecover down and improvised a cover up to look like a Mc 5. I doubt real seriously if they welded the magnesium. Looks l...

Mac seals
Finally picked up a bunch of seals so I can get some Mac motors together. Instead of SKF, the local bearing house carried Timken. I know a lot of you mentioned picking up the SKF at Napa, and other places. Just curious what you paid for them. Here are the numbers again just in case someone wants to ...

Re: 580 West Bend Questions
Andy you must be right about the pins. I now have a dozen for the 580's that measure 1.620 in length. I dont have the 700 torn down to confirm length, but looking thru the exhaust port noticed circlip groove is not cut in any deeper than on a 580. With difference in piston diameter, then pin is obvi...

Re: Mc5/Mc49 crank
Heres the hot ticket at any of the events. All of the guys that want to have a race between themselves, just throw some money in the hat and winner takes all. That should raise some competitive nature at the track. You can have all of the controlled practices and exhibition races, but if a few of th...

Re: Brake Fluid
Totally forget regular automotive brake fluid period. But instead of red mineral oil, the later brake systems, (insert Enginetics, MCP here) uses Dot 5 Silicone brake fluid. It is very functional and readily available at most parts houses. Back in the old days of red mineral, purple silicone was not...
