I dabble in roadracing and the main form of discussion, race dates, information, etc. in the USA is on a facebook page that is public. There are alot other facebook pages that are not private also. The excuse that there is too much spam on facebook is just not believable.

Selling may be different then sharing however going back to the original question, why would you want to restrict people from seeing rules, schedules, agenda, etc ? I cannot imagine that there would be that much spam that you simply could not just delete it . Everyone I know who has a web page goes ...

I don't quite get why you would have a facebook page and make it private. The idea of any type of web or facebook 'page' is to share information with others isn't it ?
