Re: McCulloch Yellow
Rustoleum does pretty good with gas, as long as it isn't constantly soaked. Pay attention to the rustoleum label that says finish all coats within an hour, or wait 48 hours to recoat. If you ignore that warning, it WILL wrinkle on you and then you have to start over. Try not to use brake cleaner for...

Nice, but....
- It has the 6:1 reduction gears. The crank is splined.
- Way too much money.
I have new cranks

Re: A few questions on a Gopher kart with a Clinton A400
I could bore you to tears discussing Clinton throttle linkage problems, but I'll try to make this short. The original float type carb is not really good for racing, as it will usually stall/hesitate in hard corners. If dad is just putting around, it will be fine when used with the spring/fan linkage...

I agree Rob!
There is a bit of fiction in it, but definitely worth seeing. My wife liked it too.

Re: Home brew ethanol free gas
I am lucky to have a RaceTrac station a couple miles away that sells ethanol free gas. Costs a bit more, but I use it for all my small engines. I used to run premium gas, thinking it would give my Clintons a little boost, but I am now convinced that this 87 octane is better with a low compression en...

Re: Clinton A400 vs. A490
- The blocks are different -there is a pocket for the PTO ball bearing on the A490
- Cranks are different - ball bearing press fits on the crank
- Pistons, rods, rings, gaskets, manifold, carb, tank and pretty much everything else is the same for the two

Re: Electric starter question
It's been a while since my electrical engineering classes but... It depends on the type of motor. Early (old) motors use commutators and brushes to energize the rotor (think of it as a crankshaft) to get it to spin one way or the other. If that is what you have, you could simply reverse the wires go...
