WTB - Steering wheel for McCulloch R-1 kart
I'm restoring a McCulloch R-1 kart, and I need a steering wheel for it. It had a 500 series wheel on it when I got it, but it's in pretty bad shape, and the bolt pattern does not allow the middle spoke of the steering wheel to be centered (up or down) when the pitman arm is centered. Yes, I could dr...

Re: Dart A-Bone steering
Terry, Steve, Thanks a million for your comments - I think you are right on the money, and I'm going to pass on this kart. If you know of an A-Bone, Grand Prix, or Chapparal for sale for a reasonable price, I'm interested. Does not have to be in cherry condition, but I don't want to have to do major...

Dart A-Bone steering
I'm thinking about buying a kart that the owner says is a Dart A-Bone. Pictures below. The tie rod and spindle arrangement looks a little odd to me. In the picture looking more or less down the steering shaft, the tie rod angles look normal - pretty much straight across. However, in the picture look...

McCulloch kart handling?
A friend has offered to sell me a McCulloch kart frame (possibly an R-1), for a great price. The axle/engine assembly mounts to the frame rails with rubber lined steel clamps. What is the reputation of this kart in terms of handling?

Wanted - Dart A-Bone or similar
I'm looking for a good-handling vintage rear engine kart without engine(s), something like a Dart Kart. I'd like to be able to put dual engines on it. I'm watching a Dart A-Bone on ebay, but I have a feeling the price is going to get too high. I'm willing to start with something pretty bare and roug...

Replace DXL clutch with Max-Torque
I have a couple of Mc101s with DXL clutches. Sometimes I run duals, sometimes a single. I'm thinking about replacing the DXLs with Max-Torques. The DXLs work great, of course, but I'm tired of changing clutch oil, and would like to use a legitimate vintage clutch. I would get the Max-Torque model wi...

Re: Hard starting with Mikunis
Jeff, it isn't pulling the fuel up the fuel line - the air in the line isn't getting sucked into the carb, with the fuel coming in behind it.
Brian, I don't have that kind of petcock.

Re: Hard starting with Mikunis
Took apart the pump stacks. Inlet needles definitely not stuck. Some of the flapper valve fingers were not sitting down nicely - some were standing up as high as about .035". I think that was the problem.

Re: Hard starting with Mikunis
Hello guys. Thanks for your thoughts and questions. I choked it with no air cleaner and the intake pretty well sealed. Last Saturday this did not force it to pump. When I did the same thing a couple of weeks ago at home, it pumped like a fire engine. Last Saturday, after cranking until the starter b...
