Re: Crankcase Seal Fit
It does depend of motor in question and which side needs repair. I can assume its a Mac, Westbend, or Clinton on PTO side. Just for reference: The replacement seal for Mac motors on flywheel side is 6763. The dimensions from SKF show that seal is for a .688" diameter shaft. But the crank measures .6...

Re: Mc5/Mc49 crank
The Mc 5 crank has longer keyways cut like all of the early motors thru Mc 7 or Mc 8. The Mc 49 should have shorter key like 90 series. The Mc49MC replacement crank has ball bearings on both sides. The 1-60 series of chainsaws is correct for Mc5 and directy interchangable for 49c/e.

Re: 580 West Bend Questions

Re: 580 West Bend Questions
The reason I wanted the pin size is to purchase a bunch that were available. The pin is 1/2" and just short of being 1 5/8" in length. The pin also has a blind hole to keep from feeding exhaust back thru the intake when piston is in position to do such. Anyway the pin is long enough to use on Power ...

Re: 580 West Bend Questions
As long as you as in the process of building those West Bends, could you measure a piston pin length and diameter? Doest have to be exact, just wanting to know if they use a 1/2" diameter pin and a rough length.

Thin piston rings
Over the years I have made standard cast iron piston rings when not readily available. Even some dykes rings out of chromoloy and stainless. But have wondered how the 0.024 thin rings were made. I may be wrong, but didnt think these would have been machined and parted off from round stock. Does some...
