Re: Mean Machine ?
OK Guys, let's not get carried away with the wild HP claims. The original version of the B-Bomb with two small alky carbs like those on the engines fitted with those original Monza pipes make around 28 hp on alky at best. Sure, more can be produced but only with much different pipes and intake setup...

Re: Mean Machine ?
Doug, Your chassis is nice and it has some value but nothing spectacular. On the other hand, your pair of Komet B-Bomb engines with original B-Bomb overhead pipes are probably the most sought after vintage kart equipment in the country and they are worth a fortune. If you decide to sell them place t...

Re: It was me!
Terry, Sorry to hear you had a big "moment" at the Big One. Hope you didn't suffer serious injuries and you heal up soon! No matter what your experience or skill level, even a relatively slow vintage kart can still bite you when you least expect it. A few years back Tom Smith was kind enough to let ...

Re: Mc101 headers
Phil, Here are a couple general rules of thumb on pipe and header design that may help. First, the combination of any given engine, header and expansion chamber produce a form of Helmoltz resonance that is one of the factors affecting engine performance. Assuming your expansion chamber design was op...

Re: Be Very Careful
A local guy calls me up one day and says he bought a Mc 92 off ebay from the seller who is the topic of this thread and it was advertised as freshly rebuilt but it won't run and wants help to get it going. He brings it over and we try to fire it and it won't start so I say let's remove it from the k...

Re: MOST POWERFUL VINTAGE KART ENGINE?
Jeff,
The Komet K99 aka B-Bomb and the BM 130 are generally considered the heavy artillery of vintage karting.
Highly modified Mc 101s and WB 820s can be tweaked to make close to the same power but they won't last when pushed that hard.

Re: What is This Please?
Looks similar to the Standun Cutlass in one of my books but there are many differences. The description of the Cutlass says the main frame and front bumper are made of square tubing and it has 5" front and 6" rear wheels. The posted picture shows 4" front wheels and no front bumper. The photo in the...

Re: Chrome
Looks like a slick process. The web site is pretty useless and looks like it hasn't changed since 2010.
Anyone know if there is a current resource for the materials used in the process?

Re: Horstman muffler on Mc101
Some good advice here, in particular about using the third bolt and proper spacers to assure the muffler is well supported. That being said, I don't recommend using Loctite for the two primary mounting screws. I have seen two many cases where the Loctite would not let go and when the exhaust is remo...
