Good seal on rings also keeps the heat in the piston crown (where it's cooled by the incoming mixture on top and from the underside) and not down the side of the piston heating and expanding the piston and burning off all the oil.

What WAS it is a better question. I stoppd to look at a kart in a yard one day.......I looked at it for a long time before I realized it was a Fox like mine......just so cut up I didn't recognise it.

It also had a plate that bolted to the flywheel puller holes that locked it in to keep it from backing off.
