Re: Tilloston HL-304E

Here it is.
Came in a real Tillotson box with a Made in China sticker on it.
The carb has Tillotson and 'Made in Ireland' on the casting.
Similar to other knock-offs I have seen.

Re: Tilloston HL-304E

Just bought this one. A little smaller venturi - 20mm vs 22mm for 304E.
Hard to beat the price.
We'll see if it actually GENUINE?

Re: Tilloston HL-304E

Do you mean the holes on the mounting flange?
They usually have the right spacing between the holes, but the holes are larger and they supply plastic bushings to
bring them down for the typical 1/4 stud on the manifold.

Re: Tilloston HL-304E

As Scott said, a real 304E is a great carb. They go for $100 plus.

I have had some good luck with Tillotson knock-offs, so I may try one for 304 at about $40

Re: Jackshaft Jones West Bend 820 Mount

Jackshaft Jones is really Vince Hughes - A true vintage karter.
Pretty sure he isn't producing those mounts anymore.

Re: Calling all Clintons!

The 502 was more of a utility engine. It was also available in a vertical shaft orientation - the 503. I think Clinton realized after the E65 that they weren't players in the racing game. They sold thousands of A4XX engines for entry level buyers and were happy with that. As a result, I doubt if man...

Parts list has 1962 on it - revised in 1977.
Very little info to be found otherwise.

Re: Calling all Clintons!

Chris, You are talking about he Clinton 502-0309 - Definitely a cheater engine! I found this on a minibike forum. It is related to the line of Clinton boat engines. 8.59 cubic inches displacement. Not sure if they intended it to be a go kart engine, as it came with a float carb and a rather flimsy m...

Re: Calling all Clintons!

A few questions to those who have posted so far. Is that 4-port E-65 only the intakes? As in two added like on a Westbend 5 port? ** Similar. I added a pipe from the crankcase to the back of the bearing plate that adds to the normal 3 ports What is a 5-port E-65? ** The same modification as done to ...
