Re: Another kart to identify

What you have is a horribly cobbled up Bug Stinger. Front porch, bumper and pedals are not correct. The pedals look to be copies of Bug Black Widow or Supersprint. I still use that type on my enduro. The seat originally was bolted down to tabs welded on frame, not welded like that is. The motor moun...

Re: pp cranks?

What you need to check if those cranks are 5.8, 6.1 or 6.4 motors. One looks to be a 6.1 crank. Early model cranks for the 58's were bad out of balance. Grinding off material around the rod journal really helped to some extent in lessening the slight out of balance when getting above the 6000 rpm ra...

Re: Some advice for a greenhorn.

Am I reading this right? That you would be in to the Stinger for around $375 total with the parts needed to build it up? If thats the case, its not bad to get s complete roller together. If it is going to cost you $375, just to get the bare chassis, I would have to say no. The seat frame is somethin...

Coleman fuel or white gas is basically naptha with about 50 octane rating. I seriously doubt it will run very well in a kart engine.

Re: Carb/parts cleaner

Nothing will clean up any corrosion or residual buildup in the very small orfices if carbs have been out of circulation for a good many years. I just soak in lacquer thinner to get bodies clean. But they all get welch plugs removed and every orfice get cleaned with drill bits or blanks

Re: Margay Panther?? What Year

I dont remember there ever being a cross member directly behind seat on the Panther frames. Seat should be attached to the wishbone crossmember missing that would be welded at very back of frame rails with aluminum hoop attached directly to seat. Something is also seriously wrong with rear half of l...

Re: best two cycle oil for running 580 westbend

Any of the synthetic and blends available for outboards works great. Basically what a lot of the weedeater oils are. The blue, not green oils. Even Amsoil is fantastic. I ride Seadoos almost year round. The cheap Super Tech 2 cycle motor oils from Wally World, is all I have been using for over 12 ye...

Re: 5 degree fiywheel?

All 100cc Macs since 1964 use the 5 degree flywheel. The hot ticket is using a Mc 7/8 crank with 5 dregree flywheel. At least its fast on the bench.
