You can also take a light cut off of it so you have a good surface. Also had luck with the copper spray and it comes off easy.

I'd leave it on. It's a base mount for a mac. Original, simple, different, paid for. Clean it up some to make it look nicer and you'll have something diffrent that everyone else.

Post a picture and someone can get you close on year then you can get magazines off ebay to help in your restoration.
