Re: "dressing" welds on a 1961 Bug.....
Just my personal preference but I like to leave the frame as produced so I can display it as the factory built it and not how I think they should have built it.

REAR position on powder coat.
I know REAR strives to maintain authenticity of the old karts and to keep them period correct. I've heard fellows speak of powder coating their frames and other parts. Does this meet REAR guidelines as I don't believe the karts had this finish when new? Thanks

The Mini bike was called the Mike Bike and was named after his son Mike, who still lives in the area. His phone # 402-392-0500. If you ...

What will become of these karts when our generation is gone? Will they be like the brass era cars that were popular with my dads generation an...

Interesting Discussion
I was just visiting with a fellow named Harold Ness. He raced karts out of Amarillo and Phoenix in the early 60s. His dad sold Fox karts and he still has the 62 Fox that he raced. He is retired now and spends summers in MN and winters in AZ. He stopped in the shop the other day and was talking to my...

Re: Was it common back in the day for.....
Could it be harmonics? The condenser could be setting up a sympathetic vibration. If as you say the engine was assembled from less than perfect parts, it could be setting up a slight vibration at a certain rpm that affects the mass of the condenser. Or just a bad joint between cond. and bracket.
