Hey guys,
I have recently broke the recoil starter on my mc49, and it no longer recoils. i tried taking it apart but the furthest i got was the front cover, as i did not want to risk breaking anything. Is there any trick to opening these up to check the spring/fix?
Thanks,
-Adrian

Re: MC49 M/C Tillotson conversion?
One thing (of several others) is to not over do it with a large bore BDC carburetor, so do not let someone talk you into a McCulloch intake manifold or matching BDC carb. You should stick with either a Tillotson HL size carb with adapter to match vacuum/pulse hole feed, or simply replace the manifo...

Hey guys, I currently have an mc49 m/c with a Walbro sdc carb on it, and I wanted to know if I were to switch to a Tillotson or Mac racing carb, which one could I use, how hard would It be, and what would I need to change? NOS/Reproduction seat covers?
Hey guys, Does anyone know a place that either makes custom seat covers or sells NOS ones for a Go Kart 800? mine doesnt have a seat cover as it was thrown out a while back (big mistake). Also, typically, how much money do these go for? i dont need a perfect award winning one, just something to get ...

Tracks in the Nashville TN area
Hey guys,
Having just got my ‘60 gk800 running, I soon realized I don’t have a (legal) place to ride it in my area (middle tn). Does anyone know of any tracks within an hour or two of Nashville that allow vintage karts to run at them?
Thanks,
-Adrian

Re: MC49 Tuning help/GK800 steering improvements?
Adrian, The "deafening screech" sound you were hearing is caused by a dry bushing in the clutch drum. Clutches need to be taken apart periodically and cleaned and the bushing greased with a good high temperature grease. In between cleanings lubricate your chain before each run with a good chain lub...

Re: MC49 Tuning help/GK800 steering improvements?
Hey all, Bit of an update, after fixing a leak in the exhaust gasket, it ran quite promisingly, looks like that was a main culprit. would have done more/taken it for a rip up the street, but the $20 amazon clutch i bought for it (i know, learned my lesson with that one) decided it wanted nothing to ...

Re: MC49 Tuning help/GK800 steering improvements?
Also, what would you recommend for performance reeds/a different carb? I know they mainly ran tillotsons, what model would fit onto it?

Re: MC49 Tuning help/GK800 steering improvements?
When started it typically will try and eventually rev up/run away, although a simple tap of the throttle brings it back down. It has a 12 tooth clutch with a 60 tooth sprocket, and I weigh around 150. The motor has had some gasket related issues in the past, and has an exhaust leak, but I don’t thin...
