Re: Mystery Kart
Tom Thorin, thank you again for your phone call this afternoon and expert advice. I've decided to pass on the "mystery kart." Just not practical or feasible to restore it affordably. If anyone is interested in this kart, I'd be happy to connect you with the seller. Price I negotiated was $750, less ...

Re: Mystery Kart
Here are a few more pictures I took. This kart has definitely been modified in some areas but not the front half of the kart. I've made an offer and am trying to determine if I want to go through with it, based on what's missing and what I will need to do to take it back close to original. Just may ...

Re: Mystery Kart
Thank you Ted, I'll reach out to Tom tomorrow. I believe the Simplex karts actually had an original seat with the "sissy side padding." The seat on this kart looks like an owner replacement. Impressed that you even know what the original Azusa bolt heads look like . If the pedals are not Simple...

Re: Mystery Kart
After further research last night, I to believe it to be a Simplex (generation 2) Mk 14, which was built in New Orleans, LA. The karts only came in two colors, red and black. Best guess as to date of production is 1961-63. It's missing some key components and the frame has been modified a bit. I'm w...

Mystery Kart
I recently came across the kart pictured below and am trying to identify it to determine if it's vintage and worth restoring. Currently it has a cheap Harbor Freight 4 cycle motor on it, but the rest of the package looks vintage to me. It has a few distinguishing features, the steering hoop is quite...

Re: Airheart Brake Bleeding
What is the "correct" fluid to use in my brake system? can I use conventional automotive brake fluid? I currently have clear DOT 3 Synthetic in the system but can easily flush it if necessary.

Re: Airheart Brake Bleeding
Was able to find some .001 stainless steel aircraft grade washers locally to shim the two halves from each other. It only took two to get things adjusted properly.

Re: Airheart Brake Bleeding
Thanks for the suggestions guys. Ted, I'll attempt the feeler gauge trick tomorrow, and hope for the best. If that doesn't work, I'll head down to my local hardware store and search for some spring steel washers to shim the two pieces out from each other slightly Roger.

Re: Airheart Brake Bleeding
 Now I have the opposite problem. The brake caliper seems to be locked on the disc before applying the pedal for some reason. If I ease the two nuts that hold the two halves of the brake caliper together slightly, I can turn the axle by hand and then apply the pedal to get the caliper to actuat...
