Why not tip on side & penetrate lube it for a week or so. Then get some washers or tubes & use it to pull it out? Once I got it below the tube I would fill tube and soak for another week.

Beware! Iif it's the early straight bore without a venturi they are not very desirable & lean out a lot on high end.
Not sure but I was told they didn't pull well off the bottom either. They were quickly replaced.

Looks like you did a pretty good job. When cutting stuff off of an old chassis I hacksaw as close as possible and never mark the original tube. Then a take a 4" grinder and grind the weld down close. Making sure everything is clamped and rigid and brace my arms when handling the grinder. NOTE ALWAYS...

NOTE TO ALL! THe rubber needle tip usually has a protecting coating on it. Use some fuel or WD40 & wipe it off on a rag until clean. Then set arm height and pop off.
