1969 Rupp Duel Engine Kart
Thank you Brian, I appreciate the help with the pictures. I've received a number of emails from interested folks asking about sale price. At this time I am open to any reasonable offers from anyone from the Vintage Kart community. My general thought is, this is the most informed group of folks that ...

1969 Rupp Duel Engine Kart
Hi Guys, I am selling my duel engine kart here hoping that it stays in the vintage kart community. I purchased this kart originally from Brian Thomas of Black Dog Vintage Racing, a member here. Brian knows the kart well and it is a fine machine. McCulloch MC-91 A's power this machine, serial numbers...

Mother of Invention
Harry, I gotta say, that contraption reminds me of the home built we did about 30 years ago. We had a bunch of bars and some tires. Then we had a beat up old Yamaha 90 in a clapped out frame. I got a guy in town to weld the thing up together and he was just the right kind of guy too- he'd build chop...

purple people eater purple
Thats some color Purple Harry! Did that thing actually race? What sort of wheel base does it have? I'm thinking it probably was a bit sloggish on the turn ins. Have you chatted w/ anyone that had piloted this brutish beast in competition? I would be very curious to hear how it did handel. Keep that ...

Re: Need help identifying a couple of engines.
Harry, Yes, I met w/ Steve in CA a week ago. He has some fine engine pieces. He also has Solt tooling. Solt (among a handful of others) was an aftermarketeer for engine/ driveline parts back in the day. One simple and nice upgrade are the aluminum pans that Steve has. Say hi for me. Steve's a great ...

Re: Need help identifying a couple of engines.
Harold, Stock Hp is 2-2.5 for the AU7 depending upon application. The AU8 is a 3 Hp engine. It should be noted that the current generation DECO engine puts out over 20 Hp and turns over 9K rpm. There are some engine tuners still out there that understand these engines. The material listed is basic i...

Re: Need help identifying a couple of engines.
Hi Harold, I've got a couple of vintage QM's under restoration right now. One's a 1957 Cherokee, the other is a 1958 RaceCraft. I have a dealer only issued manual on the Continental engines that covers the AU7 and AU8 series. It's pretty thick and an unusual size so making copies would be a bit tedi...

Continental Gear Reduction Crank vs. Keyway Crank shaft
Continental Gear Reduction crank shaft was the standard set up on 50's, 60's vintage Quarter Midgets. The Gear reduction direct drives are still in use today in the series. The attached photos illustrate the two types of crankshafts made by engine manufacture Continental (DECO Detriot Engine Co. bou...

Re: Kart Shipping Resource Needed
Hi Tom,
Thanks, that is a resource I am further investigating right now. If I have results worth posting, I'll post back here for all to save as a shipping resource.
Thanks,
Mark

Kart Shipping Resource Needed
Hi Guys- I have a question regarding shipping. I am trying to identify a reputable shipper that will ship two Karts- one from Indiana, another from Minnesota. Both are going to New Hampshire.
Anyone out there with a resource or contact information on this?
Regards,
Mark
