Homelite Reed Cage Conversion

Recently on eBay several early style Homelite 4 pedal reed cages were offered like the one shown here. I believe 18 of these were sold and I snagged a few. They are Homelite Part number 59627-2 and referred to as "Seat" At $15 each it was a real bargain in my view even though they require a couple m...

Re: !!!! TBO 2014 MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT !!!!

I don't have a dead axle kart YET!!! But I am in the process of restoring a super nice 1959 Dart Kart...all original with either a 510 bender or maybe it is a real early 580. Even has the original Rupp header on it. Unfortunately I don't own the kart but it is for a person most of us know so if I fi...

Re: AH58 seal clip removal

Bobby Mua told me to drill a 1/16" hole thru the nose from the side near the break in the clip. Then push the clip end inward with a pic so you can pry it out. It works!!
Good luck

Re: Small Mac Flatback Carb Drillings

Yeah Rob, I would have guessed that the Idle jet and LS adjustment hole would have been opened up more like on a Tilly mod but this is what the factory suggested so I would start from there. Actually these carbs have a smaller throttle bore and venturi than the 1" Tillys so maybe that has something ...

Re: Small Mac Flatback Carb Drillings

Not the Alky version, as the post says, these sizes were taken from the McCulloch fuel letter that came directly from them.
I have a bunch of carb bodies that are drilled this exact way but have not tried them.
Have you Rob?

Re: Vintage Kart Shop

I bought a bunch of stuff off the site in the first day it opened. Got it all in a few days, just as advertized, I make high recommendations for the new site.

Re: Tillotson HL304WXG Carb Problems

Rob,
I agree, that is why I drilled out all the holes to match an HL250. The WXG carbs work well when you do that, the extra pump capacity is just an additional safety factor.

That 227 tube may not be the hot tip for Macs? Maybe it should be plugged?

Re: Tillotson HL304WXG Carb Problems

I should have mentioned the POP. I lowered the POP on the XG carbs down to 8PSI and raised the fulcrum height until the needle just barely sealed but that didn't work either. Opening up the jets was the only thing that worked. Recently when I tore down the carbs to clean them out for winter I found ...

Re: Tillotson HL304WXG Carb Problems

Rob, The HLWX carbs are supposed to be "builders carbs" with pilot holes for jets so the builder can drill according to application. The HL304WXG is supposed to ve set up for gas and the HL304WXA is supposed to be set up for alcohol. Not sure about the alky carbs but the gas versions are definately ...
