Re: Kurtis Kart Return

Guys, Now that it is safely in my shop, I can spill the beans about a Kurtis I just bought: Two weeks ago, an ad showed up in a northern California Craigslist selling an odd old go kart. It was supposed to be a home built, by a guy from the aircraft industry. It was a Kurtis Kart, very ruff, but mos...

Re: Kurtis Kart Return

OK, Lets talk Kurtis Kart handling: I think this note should go out to my good friend Ted. Ted, I'm glad to hear that you are feeling better. When I built the Shamrock CCL Race Karts, I spent over 100 hour engineering the front end steering and axle loading. The Shamrock kart was known as a very eas...

Re: Kurtis Kart Return

Guys, I appreciated the kind remarks about the Kurtis Kart. It was a fun project to do, but required a fair amount to metal work, and engineering, to bring it back to life. Let me clear up a few misconceptions about the Kurtis Kart design. Frank made race cars, and lots of them. He made a ton of 1/4...

Re: One man's idea is....

Guys, Here is the Kurtis Kart as it stands tonight. All the cracks in the frame are welded up, and I made all the seat parts, so it goes to United Auto Trim. Saturday I'll pick out the seat material color and leave the frame for a few weeks up by Rick. Then it's off to the powder coaters for the pai...

Re: One man's idea is....

Guys, Brian here, The Kurtis Kraft Kart is completely torn down. The horrible repair job on the front axle is completely fixed, and the bent axle straightened. Whoever tried to repair the axle, welded over a very large crack in the tubing, a little scary. To understand this kart, you need to underst...

Putt-Nik Karts

Hey Alleen,
I have a friend at work who's first kart when he was a kid, was a Putt-Nik.
Being the Putt-Nik expert, could you help us find one???

Thank You from the Caretta Gang

Rob, Bob, & John, From Brian, Katie & Bernard, We all wanted to say thanks for a great weekend. It was Katie & Bernard's first vintage kart event, so I think it's all down hill from here. It was also Bernard's first time on a kart track, he had only driven a kart for the first time one week before. ...
