Re: !!!! TBO 2014 MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT !!!!

This is a great idea! The earliest karts--the "dead axles"--are the ones I love the best powered by the motors I love the best--the Clintons and West Bends. Hats off to you. I hope to be there. Quentin

Re: Gas/oil ratio...A safe mixture

Dick, Thanks you for your suggestions and explanations. Tell you the truth, I had totally forgotten what mix I ever did run in the 610. I'll take your advice and play it safe.

Likewise, I look forward to meeting you in Fremont!

Gas/oil ratio...A safe mixture

Having been coach of my daughter's fastpitch softball team the last five summers and autumns, I haven't had a kart out of the shed in at least that long. Now that she is a senior in high school, she says she is done with club ball beginning this fall. Sooooo, I get to take a kart to Fremont this wee...

Jerry Solt and the SAE kart

The SAE kart generates a lot of interest on all three of the vintage kart forums--maybe more interest now than it generated in its prime. But even more intriguing than the SAE kart is the man who invented it--Jerry Solt of Findlay, OH. At least that's what I've always thought. Jerry has attended R.E...

Calling all Century Speed Karts and their Owners!...Part Two

(This is a continuation of a post I started moments earlier entitled "Calling all Century Speed Karts and their Owners....Part One". This post will make better sense if you read "Part One" first.) In the past, I've seen a handful of Centurys at Fremont. Rob has a real nice Clinton-powered Century, a...

Calling all Century Speed Karts and their Owners!...Part One

On June 29, 1959, articles of incorporation were filed with the Ohio Secretary of State creating a business entity known as The Century Speed Kart Company, Galion, Ohio. Over the next several years, hundreds of Century Speed Karts were manufactured in Galion, but when the karting bubble began to bur...

Looking for an A-bone for Mickey Rupp

Dear Vintage Karters, I spoke with Mickey Rupp a couple days ago, and he said he would be interested in finding an A-bone to purchase. I told him I would look out for one. If any of you have an original A-bone for sale or know of someone who does, please let me know, and I will happily pass the info...

Re: Dart Kart Story in Mansfield Paper

No, Virg, you are not being overcome by senility. I posted my initial report on Jeff Campbell's other discussion site, the VKA forum. Your reply is there, too. And no, the Dart is not presently for sale, but I am very grateful for you selling it to me in the first place. In case others of you care t...
