Thanks for that Tip Don about the rope! Works great until we get the recoil fixed. I had forgot about the rope for when all else fails like on my old Evinrude!

Thanks Virg, but I think that would necessitate obtaining additional, more complicated equipment and I wanted to have this kart so my son could start it on his own for safety considerations. Any other ideas? We are very new to karting and attended the Big One in Fremont to see what it was all about....

Trouble with rewind starter WB 580

My rewind starter keeps jumping off the spring. I have had it off several times and I get a few good pulls before I hear the spraing and have most of the rope hanging out! I am not sure what I am doing wrong or what else I can do at this point. I did have to bend a hook into the inner loop of spring...

Steve Very interesting reading. I am just getting into this karting/2 cycle enigne hobby and am curious as to what things are and how they work on a detail level. When you say that some of the smaller expansion chambers "killed the engines" are you referring to some sound effect that causes predeton...

Hi Jeff,
Here is a picture of the one that is on our restoration project. It's connected via a GEM u-pipe. I noticed that the skinny exit tube extends about 1/2 way inside the chamber. What is the purpose of that?
