Bug Sprint rear axle mounting

I have a 1967 Bug Sprint that I'm in the process of putting back together. I did take pictures beforehand but unfortunately missed a few shots of the rear axle mounting and I want to get it right. I'm having trouble lining up the clutch sprocket with the axle sprocket in its current configuration. I...

Re: Precision rear wheel

Alan, unfortunately the one I'm looking for is a 5 spoke version. I'm new to vintage karting so I don't know how rare these are or if I should just replace all the wheels with some new tri-stars. Thanks for getting back so quickly. Go luck with your sale.

Wanted- I'm looking for a clean (no dings or missing pieces) 5" x 4" wide "Precision" mag wheel for my Bug Sprint. I need the outside half for the rear axle. Please let me know what you have.

Re: Identifying wheels

Thanks Rob, I appreciate your expertise. Any idea if these wheels are original to Bug karts at some point in time or when they may have been produced? The wheels I have are all 5" and were mounted with 3.40/3.00-5 slicks when I found the kart a month ago. The width of the rim measures 4". The outsid...

Identifying wheels

I'm trying to locate another wheel for my 1967 Bug kart since I have one that is broken. Being a newby, I don't know if this is a common wheel and what it might be called. The newer Bug Karts have the tri-star wheels but I'm pretty sure these are original to the kart and I want to keep the kart stoc...

Re: Wheels and axle "welded" together

Dan, Thanks for the excellent advice. Yes, I'm a newby so this is the first I've come across this problem. The wheels on my kart are not tri-stars but I'm not sure what they're called. They have five spokes and five bolts and chrome acorn nuts that attach the two pieces together. Not sure if they ar...

Wheels and axle "welded" together

I just picked up a 1967 Bug Sprint that I am in the process of disassembling for restoration and have not been able to separate the rear wheels from the axle. I'm reluctant to use too much force as I don't want to damage the wheels, which are nearly perfect, just very corroded. I'm guessing the galv...
