Rob,
Dean wanted to look his best for the head shot photo, so he took his glasses off...they don't fit over the bulging eyeballs all that well anyway!

Re: Margay gearbox disassembly
Phil,
The large o-rings seal the oil bath housing for the oil clutch version. The rebuild article covered the oil clutch version and not the open clutch version, that is basically the same gearbox.

Re: Margay Gearbox Bearings
Dick,
The needle races have too much compression to be helped by heating up the case. Generally I just use a slight smear of anti seize in the bores and on the bearing ODs. Just wipe off any excess.

Re: Margay Gearbox Bearings
Hi Dick If any of the needles came out of the bearings you can count on the fact that that bearing has died and will need to be replaced. The gearboxes are easy to rebuild, but all the bearings should be replaced along with the seals. Once minute particles of metal start circulating around the box t...

Re: Mac Screw on clutches
Hi Dennis, Jim and I worked out the first clutches for the Clinton chainsaws. I sent him the crankshaft so they would fit perfectly. After that I wrote an article covering the conversion of a D-65 for kart use. Later on Steve Line installed the D65 on his Fox and ran it at Deans Turkey Trot last yea...

Re: Mac Screw on clutches
Hi MC Bob, If you want to it is possible to turn down the bearing area with a ceramic bit to fit the Rev-Grip clutch drum, then use the screw on clutch with it. Make sure to form a radius at the shoulder and make a small spacer with a relief inside it to clear that radius. I did this when doing an a...

Re: Smaller Clutch Diamater for Clinton A400
Mark, Is this the engine, clutch and pipe you intend to use? All of this fit up just fine. I believe the pipe itself becomes the chain guard unfortunately. Dean has one of these I loaned him at his place. It is a Mercury minibike clutch, but is strong enough for an A400, you see it here on an NOS A5...
