Re: 580 5 port pistons

Ted,

I had some rings made a while back by Otto Gas Engine Works. Contact there was Dave Reed. 410-398-7340.

They have a new website since I last talked to Dave. ringspacers.com

Maybe he can help if all else fails.

Bob,
Next time you need a quick TIG weld give me a call. i'm a bit closer than EJ, although I've always enjoyed a visit with him on occasion myself.

Re: West bend 820

I don't want to scare anyone but I put a recoil on an 820 once. Pulled the rope 2 times, removed it and never looked back. and that was with the compression release head. :)

Re: Dear Mr. Marchand - are you watching?

Hi Ted,

I was waiting for something of a report on Tuscon, sorry I couldn't make it. With my daughter in Phoenix I'll have to stay on top of the schedule and see if I can get out there to the track some time in the future. Sounds like you're feeling better. We sure missed you at TBO.

Re: Time to get started on pipes

That's right. Then I saved it for each desired cone section and cut away what was not needed, isolating each segment. After making a thin .001" cut I converted each part file to a sheet metal file and flattened it to make the flat profile for each section to be cut out. SolidEdge has very easy to us...

Re: Time to get started on pipes

Yeah, I'll have to check the dates and see if that's possible.

I know you're familiar with the 3D modeling process since you have ProE experience, but here's a pic of my model for those who might be interested.

Re: Time to get started on pipes

We rolled 12 of the 13 sections yesterday. Joel will tig weld each section's seam then we'll check them for roundness and begin fitting them together. I'll share more pics as we go. Time to get started on pipes

O.K. Joel and I have been talking about this for some time. I modeled up the rampipe in 3D then broke it down into 12 segments for the 180 deg section (15 deg. each segment) Sent the dxf files to my sheet metal guy and just got the pieces in 20 ga aluminized steel. Now to roll the cones and weld the...

Re: Thompson Ohio vintage

Hey Roger,

Hope you all have a good time there. Joel and I wont be able to make it. Dad is in the hospital here and not doing as well as we would like. Tell everyone we said Hi, and we're sorry we couldn't be there. Hope to see you at The Big One.
